Power for the works was supplied by a boilerhouse fired most likely by coal (probably pulverized), as evidenced by the fly ash hopper next to the building, and more than likely blast furnace, coke oven and, possibly, producer gases. The generators had a capacity of 16,000 kilowatts per hour. For the wind the blast furnaces demand, 5,200 hp blowing engines blew 64,000 cubic feet per minute.
